Course Description

Basic

Students will learn the basics of Japanese grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. They will also learn how to read and write Hiragana and Katakana, the Japanese syllabaries.

Intermediate

Students will build on their basic knowledge of Japanese by learning more advanced grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

Advance

Students will further develop their Japanese skills by learning even more advanced grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. They will also learn how to use Japanese in more complex and nuanced ways.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Course Description for Japanese Language

This course is designed to teach Japanese language skills to students of all levels. The course will cover the following topics. They will also learn how to use Japanese in a variety of contexts, such as talking about their personal lives, traveling in Japan, and understanding Japanese media.

  • Grammar: Students will learn the basics of Japanese grammar, including sentence structure, verb conjugation, and noun declension.
  • Vocabulary: Students will learn about 500-1000 basic Japanese words and phrases.
  • Pronunciation: Students will learn how to pronounce Japanese sounds correctly.
  • Kanji: Students will learn how to read and write the basic Hiragana and Katakana characters.
  • Topics: Students will learn about Japanese culture, history, and society.
  • Grammar: Students will learn more advanced Japanese grammar, including complex sentence structures and verb conjugations.
  • Vocabulary: Students will learn about 2000-3000 intermediate Japanese words and phrases.
  • Pronunciation: Students will improve their Japanese pronunciation skills.
  • Kanji: Students will become more proficient in reading and writing Hiragana, Katakana, and basic Kanji characters.
  • Topics: Students will learn about more advanced topics in Japanese culture, history, and society.
  • Grammar: Students will learn the most advanced Japanese grammar, including passive voice, relative clauses, and honorifics.
  • Vocabulary: Students will learn about 5000-10000 advanced Japanese words and phrases.
  • Pronunciation: Students will achieve native-like pronunciation skills.
  • Kanji: Students will become fluent in reading and writing Hiragana, Katakana, and all Kanji characters.
  • Topics: Students will learn about the most advanced topics in Japanese culture, history, and society.
  • Listening comprehension: Students will listen to Japanese audio recordings and answer questions about what they have heard.
  • Speaking practice: Students will have opportunities to practice speaking Japanese with the instructor and other students.
  • Reading comprehension: Students will read Japanese texts and answer questions about what they have read.
  • Writing practice: Students will have opportunities to practice writing Japanese sentences and paragraphs.
  • Cultural activities: Students will participate in cultural activities, such as watching Japanese movies or TV shows, listening to Japanese music, or visiting Japanese restaurants.
